My work seeks to challenge the notions of past and present, using tokens from childhood in order to manipulate depictions of various adult experiences. Most of my research and references derive from her interest in psychology and politics.
I often use familiar objects and symbols from childhood to divert traditional narratives of adulthood. By placing these objects in unexpected contexts and juxtaposing them with more mature themes, I am able to explore how narratives can change or coincide.
My practice primarily consists of paintings of puzzles, toys, drawings and mise-en-scenes which are constructed in three-dimensional, tangible and digital manners through the use of the air-brush. My aim is to challenge and detach the nostalgic elements of the subjects, and elevate virtual and digital elements to add notions of the contemporary. The three-dimensionality of my work allow the subjects to be tangible while existing on the flat space of the canvas.
